The European Central Bank (ECB) raised its interest rates by 0.75% today, 8th September, 2022.
The ECB deposit rate was raised from 0.00% to 0.75% while the principal refinancing rate was lifted to 1.25%.
The bank restated its goal of returning inflation to its 2.0% ‘medium-term target’ citing inflation in the Eurozone as hitting near double-digit numbers.
The bank forecasts inflation rates will fall to 5.5% and 2.3% in 2023 and 2024 respectively within the Eurozone.
